OTI’s General Manager, Shayne Driscoll, counts down his Top 10 Memorable Moments across the 2023/24 Racing Season.
Number 2 – Warmonger’s Walk in the Park
Warmonger’s Group 1 Queensland Derby win was, no doubt, visually our most impressive winner for the season. While the win came as no shock to OTI given his undoubted talent, the 10.5-length winning margin and his dominance over his rivals was outstanding to watch and the mark of a most promising young stayer.
Warmonger’s preparation prior to this race was promising, albeit unlucky. I believe he should have won the Group 1 SA Derby in the lead-up, but had he done so, he would likely have headed to the paddock, and we never would have seen this brilliant performance in Queensland.
Warmonger wins Group 1 Queensland Derby.
