Docklands Travel Diary | Chapter 7

What a week it has been. After a mini scare, when I had a slightly bruised foot last Friday, I headed to Moonee Valley on Saturday feeling great.

To some people’s amazement, I felt quite relaxed throughout the day. Once out on the track, with Blake Shinn aboard, and looking back at the huge crowd, my excitement rose.

Blake gave me a good gallop down the side of the track before we went into the gates. I was able to jump well and turning out of the straight, I was in the position that the boss had planned.

Turning into the straight, I was getting a little fatigued and weakened a touch, albeit the boss and owners were very pleased with my 5th placing.

Docklands finished 5th in the 2024 Cox Plate.

It has been a nice quiet week, but I was excited to see my travelling buddy take out the Bendigo Cup on Wednesday. I may end up being known as Sea King’s galloping partner, rather than the reverse.

I’m fit and healthy and now looking forward to next weekend, when I have plenty of race choices in both Melbourne and Sydney.
