Promising mare La Reconquista is set to make her Australian debut next week.
The four-year-old, by Dark Angel, has settled into John O’Shea’s Randwick stables since arriving from France in July this year.
The stable has pencilled in two races for her next week and expect her to be competitive wherever she goes. The mare has thrived under O’Shea’s care and appreciated the new environment, demonstrating her potential in two recent trials.
John O’Shea is looking forward to getting her to the track and has high aspirations for her career.
“She’s a remarkable doer, I’m really optimistic for the future going forward,” O’Shea commented, adding that she was adapting to the Australian way of racing.
OTI’s CEO, Terry Henderson, bred La Reconquista, in conjunction with his French breeding partners. The mare is impeccably bred, out of Foreign Legionary, a daughter of Galileo, and by Group 1 winning stallion Dark Angel. She is also a half-sister to OTI’s Listed-winner Mantastic.
OTI’s General Manager, Shayne Driscoll, is looking forward to seeing her step out in the OTI colours in Australia.
“She showed raw ability in her French form, with competitive efforts in all four race starts,” he commented.
“She had a long spell earlier this year which was extended during the suspension of racing in France due to COVID-19. We then decided it was the right time to bring her out to Australia. We’re hoping she’ll enjoy the change of scenery and find her full potential here.”
“We’ve already seen her mature under the care of O’Shea, and we’re optimistic that she’ll break her maiden early in her prep,” he added.
OTI wishes La Reconquista’s connections the best of luck with her spring preparation!
