Lafont following in DJ’s footsteps

Our yearling half-sister to Group 2 Adelaide Cup winner Daqiansweet Junior, Lafont, continues to progress in training with Phillip Stokes as she seeks to follow in her big brother’s footsteps towards racetrack success.

Currently undertaking her second period of education, Lafont is proving herself to have similar traits to her sibling, with Stokes describing her simply as “a smaller version of DJ” and her rider adding “looks and feels like DJ too”.

Lafont returning to the stables after a positive morning out on the track

Daqiansweet Junior is the best performed son of quite an obscure stallion in the US-bred Sweet Orange, whereas Lafont is a daughter of Wrote, a son of the well-renowned High Chaparral. Wrote’s best progeny are currently the Group 3 winners, Best Seller and Wrote to Arataki – the latter trained by Matt Williams in Australia.

As a yearling, Lafont has her future all ahead of her. It wouldn’t be a surprise to either OTI or the Stokes stable if Lafont was to join Daqiansweet Junior in the future as successful at black-type level and we will watch her progression with much excitement.
