In this edition of the OTI Gazette, we have an insightful chat with prominent New Zealand racing journalist and broadcaster Mick Guerin.
With there being no shortage of key personnel movements in racing in Victoria, we discuss the challenge of introducing fresh ideas. We also preview our weekend contenders, celebrate 10 years of Ray and introduce a most attractive 2yo colt with talented young trainer Dom Sutton.
CHAT WITH MICK GUERIN
“It is a privilege to talk to people about their sale, because everybody has a different experience. For me the highlights are those lesser known people like Glenn Ritchie, who bought the $2.4m filly at Karaka. He didn’t want to talk on TV but we eventually convinced him to and he produced one of the great sales quotes of “At $2.4m, she only cost 3 buses.”
CHALLENGE OF INTRODUCING FRESH IDEAS
“More positively, the Melbourne Racing Club’s new committee is coming out swinging. Time will tell whether their initiatives have any long-term impact, but their ability to implement change for the betterment of racing patrons is refreshing and welcome.”
