Flemington will be the focus for OTI’s racing partners on Saturday. Three runners are set to contest races across the Anzac Day program.
Haky (barrier 10) lines up in a 2600m Quality (Race 4 – 2:50pm) on the back of a very encouraging run in the G3 Easter Cup at Caulfield last start. Third up and out to his preferred distance range, Archie Alexander is confident of a most competitive showing.
The OTI debut of Never No More (barrier 12) in the 1000m Open Handicap (Race 7 – 4:35pm) promises to be an exciting occasion for his connections. The 4-year-old is now in the hands of Lindsey Smith and will be ridden by Dean Yendall. We look forward to seeing him begin a preparation targeted towards the Wangoom at Warrnambool and Goodwood at Morphettville.
Instant de Reve (barrier 13) is currently an emergency for the final race of the day, a 1700m Handicap. Should he gain a start, he will take good benefit from what is his first race in 18 months.
Trench Warfare makes his debut at Geelong on Sunday. Trainer Matt Cumani has identified a 3yo maiden over 1312m (Race 4 – 2:20pm) as a suitable kick off for the son of Pentire. Drawn well in barrier 5, he is sure to take great experience from the run on his way to races at a mile and beyond.
Later in the day, recent Sandown winner Tigre Royale has accepted in a BM70 over 2418m (Race 6 – 3:30pm). As third emergency, he requires scratchings to gain a start. The horse is in good order and we expect a strong display should he get a run.
Best of luck to all involved across the weekend.
