With the Caulfield Guineas held this Saturday, the track was host to its Tuesday morning lead-up gallops yesterday, with many well known gallopers on show. From an OTI perspective, this included the somewhat familiar faces of Attorney and last start winner Regal Lion, but also included a first look at Green Fly. A British-bred son of Frankel purchased out of France, Green Fly joined the team of Anthony and Sam Freedman in August.
The 4yo colt galloped in company of 3yo colt Elliptical, who is also trained by Anthony and Sam and will run in Saturday’s Neds Caulfield Guineas. Green Fly was a winner on debut at Saint-Cloud, France and has since been competitive at Listed level. Plans are yet to be confirmed, but Green Fly is expected to be seen on an Australian race track for the first time in the coming weeks.
Attorney and Regal Lion shared a gallop and ran home in good style. Trainers Annabel Neasham and Matt Smith have options for both Saturday and next Wednesday at Caulfield. If both choose to run on Saturday, they would be against eachother in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes over 2400m.
Regal Lion, who flashed home last start at Sandown as a 40-1 shot, worked very comfortably around the track at Caulfield. He appears to have taken a great deal of improvement and confidence from his last run and should be very competitive. Annabel describes him as a natural stayer and has no concerns with the jump in distance.
Attorney also worked well through the line and trainer Matt Smith is hoping that the switch to Victoria in search of some firmer ground assists the horse in finding his best form.

We look forward to all horses returning to the track.
