Reappearances and Reveals – Exciting Focus on Hawkesbury

Midweek Racing at Hawkesbury on Wednesday could take on additional interest with the scheduled reappearance of Saganti for Price Kent Racing and the potential reveal of Twisted Love in OTI colours for the first time, for Ciaron Maher Racing.

Saganti has not been seen since his fast-finishing effort in the G3 Rosehill Gold Cup on his Australian debut last spring. Given time to acclimatise, Saganti has prepared for his return with two handy trials in March, finishing 3rd on both occasions.

Saganti finished 5th in Group 3 Rosehill Cup in 2024.

Twice placed at Group 3 level in France, and twice competitive at Group 1 level, Saganti appears very well placed in this 1600m Benchmark 94 event. A Brisbane Carnival preparation beckons for the 4yo Grey gelding by Zarak.

Twisted Love is a newer addition to the OTI stable, purchased as a potential Oaks contender out of NZ following a most impressive debut win at Waverley. With a minor virus hindering her progress towards the NZ Oaks, we have changed tack, and she will, like Saganti, now head towards the QLD Carnival. The Queensland Oaks is now her grand final in the early winter.

Twisted Love wins on debut at Waverley(NZ) in January 2025.

Named as the 2nd Emergency for the Benchmark 72 over 1500m at Hawkesbury on Wednesday, Twisted Love has drawn well to get the gun run should she be afforded a start. She heads into the race without any Australian trial form, with her residual fitness from NZ keeping her well at hand. Twisted Love has also been nominated for a Class 1 over 1600m at Goulburn on Thursday, should a run at Hawkesbury not be forthcoming.

OTI expects a talented contingent of Queensland Carnival contenders, with Saganti and Twisted Love set to be joined by some high-calibre horses. Lady Laguna, Hezashocka, Kiwiesque and Don Pedro are some names to watch out for.
