Recently acquired from France, Green Fly and Baby Rider will soon join Royal Ascot participant Timour in Australia for their new trainers. All horses arrive in Australia with a rating of over 100, which will hopefully see them competitive in some of the bigger races this spring and beyond.
Timour (Rating: 101)
The 4yo entire by Gleneagles was acquired by OTI in August last year and has shown himself to be Group quality. Third at G2 level in September, incidentally beaten by Baby Rider, Timour was last seen at Royal Ascot over the marathon 4350m journey.
Already in Australia, Timour is joining the Chris Waller stable in Sydney. A spring preparation will be designed to assist acclimatisation towards the autumn, where the Sydney Cup will be his first major target.
Baby Rider (Rating: 108)
Baby Rider, another 4yo son of Gleneagles, will join Timour in Sydney. A G2 winner at three over 2100m and unlucky not to win a second, he has held his form as a four-year-old in top company.
The stallion was purchased in partnership with Bjorn Baker and will target the $750,000 Rosehill Gold Cup (October 29) or the $2m G2 Villiers Stakes (December) in his first preparation.
Green Fly (Rating: 101)
Green Fly will call Victoria home, with the 3yo son of Frankel (purchased in partnership with Anthony and Sam Freedman) to be trained at Mornington. He has won twice and is already proven up to Group 3 level.
After arriving in Australia, his new trainers will assess whether he has a short prep for the spring which could include the $10m Golden Eagle, or instead be given the chance to acclimatise. Either way, plans would have him ready for the rich Autumn Carnivals in Melbourne and Sydney.
We look forward to seeing all three horses making their debut on Australian ground.
