Three in a row for Flashing Steel?

After two consecutive wins, Flashing Steel returns to Canterbury Park tomorrow afternoon for trainer Annabel Neasham and connections in a bid to make it three in a row.

After a fifth and a second in his first two starts this preparation, the 3yo gelding was strong through the line with a dominant win over 1500m at Kembla Grange. Just over two weeks later, Flashing Steel took his place in the Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 72 at Canterbury Park and put forward an even more impressive showing, winning by 3 lengths under James McDonald.

Flashing Steel (leading, blue colours) wins by 3 lengths at Canterbury Park last start.

“It was a great run and a very easy watch, he skipped away from them readily. He’s a very happy and confident horse at the moment and probably looks and parades the best he ever has. He’s maintained his condition well and we will just keep on building confidence by hopefully winning another one of these mid-week races before heading to Saturday class.” says trainer Annabel Neasham.

Partnered with James McDonald last start, owners were pleased to see the Champion rider back on board for the gelding’s fifth run of the campaign. Flashing Steel will start in Race 4 over 1550m in a Benchmark 72 Handicap and jumps from barrier 4.

Having trained on well and drawn softly again, we’re hopeful of another bold showing!
